The place was Punggol Point; the year 1969. When Mr Ting Choon Teng first commenced business, there was virtually no competition for his seafood restaurant save for a sprinkling of small coffeeshops in the same area. But little did he know that Ponggol (Hock Kee) Seafood Restaurant at Punggol Point would very soon become household name for every Singaporean who loves seafood. The cheap and really good food, which the restaurant served, was a drawn in itself and it quickly attracted a clientele which till today remained its regular patrons. With over 30 years of experience, we still serve you the most authentic and sumptuous seafood, our restaurant signature dish, Ponggol Chilli Crabs (Sri Lanka) here have an extra kick with a sauce combining not just chilli and tomato, but spices like lemongrass, galangal and enriched with ground dried prawns and roasted peanut. Remember to ask for the buns and dip in into the mouth watering savoury gravy...simply irresistible. Next, the Ponggol Famous Mee Goreng is a must for every table served. The noodle is fried with very well blended ingredient chilli paste. At Ponggol (Hock Kee) seafood, the fishes come alive. An excellent choice at Ponggol is the deep-fried Soon Hock - the fish is first cut open at the belly so that when it is cooked it curls and becomes twisted in the manner of squirrel fish with the outside very fragrant and crispy, yet tender within. Lobsters are a luxury and if you wish to indulge, Ponggol (Hock Kee) Restaurant can have these chopped up, a lightly battered and deep fried in butter. So come on down and treat yourself a memorable seafood meal, only at Ponggol Seafood.
